RxShield Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 7, 2026
RxShield: Med & Health Tracker ("RxShield", "we", "our", or "us") is a privacy-focused medication and health tracker application. This Privacy Policy explains how RxShield handles information when you use the application.
1. Information You Enter
RxShield allows you to enter information such as:
- Medication names
- Supplement names
- Dose and schedule information
- Reminder times
- Taken, skipped, and missed dose records
- Refill information
- Optional health-condition selections
- Health readings (blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, SpO₂) and associated notes
- Other information you choose to store within the application
This information is primarily stored locally on your device. RxShield does not require you to create an account.
2. Local Storage
RxShield is designed to keep your medication, doses, and health information on your device. The application uses local database storage to store information such as medication schedules, reminder settings, adherence records, refill information, health readings (blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, SpO₂), and application preferences. We do not operate a cloud account system for storing your medication or health records. If you uninstall the application or otherwise delete its local application data, locally stored information may be permanently deleted.
3. Medication Search
RxShield contains a bundled medication reference database. If a medication search does not produce a suitable result from the bundled database, the application may optionally send the search term to external public medication-information services to retrieve matching information. Depending on the request, these services may include:
- RxNorm / National Library of Medicine
- PubChem
- Wikidata
Only information necessary to perform the requested search is transmitted. Search results may be cached locally on your device so that they can be used again without another network request. RxShield does not intentionally send your complete medication database, adherence history, reminder schedule, or other locally stored records to these services. Because a medication name can reveal sensitive health information, users should understand that an optional medication search may result in the search term leaving the device.
4. Notifications and Alarms
RxShield may request permission to schedule notifications or alarms so that medication reminders can function. Notification and alarm information is used solely to provide reminder functionality. On supported Android devices, RxShield may use the device's Clock application to create medication alarms. On supported devices where the Clock integration is unavailable, RxShield may use its own local alarm and notification functionality. RxShield does not use notifications to collect personal information.
5. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
RxShield does not require:
- An account
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your contacts
- Your precise location
- Your photographs
- Your microphone recordings
- Your payment information
RxShield does not intentionally collect medication or health information for advertising profiles.
6. Third-Party Services
When you perform an optional medication search that cannot be satisfied by the bundled database, RxShield may communicate with public information services such as RxNorm, PubChem, and Wikidata. These services operate independently of RxShield and may have their own privacy policies, terms, logging practices, and retention policies. RxShield does not control the privacy practices of these third-party services. You should review their respective policies if you use the optional online medication-search functionality.
7. Analytics and Advertising
RxShield does not intentionally sell your health information. RxShield does not use medication information, adherence information, or health-condition information for targeted advertising. If analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or other third-party services are added to RxShield in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those services are used to collect or transmit additional information.
8. Data Sharing
RxShield does not sell your medication records, adherence history, or health-condition information. Locally stored medication information is not routinely uploaded to our servers. The optional medication-search functionality may transmit a medication search term to the external services described above when necessary to return search results.
9. Data Retention
Medication and health-related information stored by RxShield is retained locally on your device until you delete it through the application, clear the application's data, or uninstall the application. RxShield does not maintain a cloud account containing your medication history. External medication-information services may have their own technical logging and retention policies. RxShield does not control those practices.
10. Data Deletion
Because RxShield primarily stores user information locally, users can remove their stored information by deleting the relevant records within the application or by clearing the application's local data/uninstalling the application, subject to the operating system's behavior. If you have questions about deletion or privacy, contact us using the contact information below.
11. Security
RxShield is designed to minimize transmission of sensitive health information by storing medication and reminder information locally whenever possible. However, no software or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should keep their device protected with an appropriate screen lock and operating-system security measures.
12. Children's Privacy
RxShield is not specifically directed toward children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account system because RxShield does not require user accounts.
13. Medical Disclaimer
RxShield is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. RxShield does not provide medical advice, prescribe medications, determine appropriate treatment, or replace a doctor or pharmacist. Medication and interaction information is provided for informational and organizational purposes and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting, stopping, changing, or combining medications or supplements.
14. Data Sources
RxShield may use medication reference information derived from publicly available resources, including U.S. FDA drug labeling and U.S. National Library of Medicine resources. RxShield is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health, National Library of Medicine, RxNorm, PubChem, or Wikidata.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the application, its functionality, or applicable requirements change. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will indicate when the policy was most recently changed.
